Astra Taylor is a documentarian, writer, and organizer. She is a co-founder of the Debt Collective; the author of the American Book Award winner The People’s Platform: Taking Back Power and Culture in the Digital Age (Metropolitan Books, 2014); and the director, most recently, of What Is Democracy? which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. She has written for the New York Times, the London Review of Books, the Guardian, and many other outlets. Her new book, Democracy May Not Exist, but We’ll Miss It When It’s Gone, was published this year by Metropolitan Books.
